Fundraising

OVERVIEW

In partnership with families, teachers and staff, the Rosa Parks PTA is committed to supporting all students’ academic and emotional success. Due to insufficient public funding, the PTA must bring in additional resources to fill the gap.

We have two primary fundraisers during the school year:

  • Annual Fund (year-round): our general giving campaign to support student learning and community building. Please donate by December 31st so we can ensure we don’t have any last-minute funding gaps.

  • Read-A-Thon (Spring): an opportunity for extended family and friends to contribute to support reading initiatives and our school community.

What are we fundraising for? Each year, our budget is roughly allocated toward the following activities:

  • 58% of our budget supports Student Site Council grants for essential initiatives, including positive play recess activities, coordinating a school-wide science project, and providing instructional assistants for Kindergarten. Funds also subsidize Mosaic, a week-long community and peace-making camp for 4th graders in Santa Cruz, CA.

  • 25% of our budget ensures that classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff receive stipends to cover classroom and program costs, with additional grants provided for each grade level.

  • 14% of our budget supports our community building events such as our New Family Welcome, Carnival, Valentine’s Day dance, and 5th grade graduation.

  • 3% of our budget  covers our PTA administration.

HOW MUCH?

Rosa Parks needs to raise $600 per student to fund essential services. If you're able, we ask that you contribute this amount for each child you have enrolled at our school. However, we understand that not all families can afford this. If you're in a position to give more, please consider a generous donation of $2,000—approximately the cost of one month of preschool—to help support families who may not be able to meet the full amount. Every contribution makes a difference!
