How Does it Work?
In February/March, students read as much as they can and record their reading minutes.
They (with caregiver help) reach out to family, friends, and neighbors to pledge either a flat donation or an hourly donation per hour read.
After the reading ends, students tally their reading minutes and collect money from their sponsors.
The money raised from the Read-a-thon goes to next year’s PTA Budget to support essential school programs such as MOSAIC, Classroom Grants, Community Events and lots more!
Prizes are awarded to top individual performers and classrooms, as well as Most Improved from last year and “You Rocked the Read-a-thon” for creative participation. Prizes include local store gift certificates, ice cream from an ice cream truck, a trophy, medal or certificate.
Students who get 10 or more sponsors are entered into a draw to win the opportunity to win the Principal Prize!!
